Aegean Coast
Located on Turkey’s south west coast, the Aegean area where we ride is a relatively undeveloped coastal land where olive groves descend to rocky peninsulas and hidden coves. The coast is among the loveliest landscapes in the country.
Lapped by the clear water of the Aegean Sea, the sea is never far away and pristine beaches surrounded by olive groves, rocky crags and pine woods make this a perfect region to explore by bike. Dotted with idyllic fishing harbours, popular holiday villages and the remains of ancient civilisations attesting to the inheritance of more than 5,000 years of history, culture and mythology, this region offers a holiday with something for everyone.
Nature lovers, sun worshippers, photographers, sports enthusiasts, sailors and archaeologists will all find much of interest here! Along the whole length of the coast, accommodations to suit every taste and price range can be found and the quality of restaurants, road surfaces, markets and other facilities is also higher than many other parts of the country.
Enjoying an exceptionally mild climate, with soft, verdant springs, hot summers, sunny autumns and warm winters marked by occasional showers cycling is possible throughout the year.
The region’s highlights include Lake Bafa National Park- an incredibly beautiful landscape of white sand beaches, huge, rounded boulders and untouched natural vegetation. Often home to flocks of flamingos, Bafa is one of our favourite places.
We visit Dalyan due to it’s stunning riverside position, protected turtle beach, Lycian rock tombs and relaxed, easy going vibe. An evening meal beside the villages clean waters watching the sun set… or a riverboat trip down to the beach… or a poke around the lovely markets…. Dalyan has something for everyone!
